Hydraulic casing oscillators (short version) are mounted in front of hydraulic drilling rigs when the torque of the rotary is insufficient to drive or extract the casing in case of large drilling diameter and/or depths or due to high soil friction. If the drilling rig has the necessary hydraulic power the oscillator can be controlled by the on-board hydraulics of the carrier otherwise by a separate hydraulic power pack.
Hydraulic casing oscillators are required if the torque of the rotary of the drilling rig is insufficient to drive or extract the casing. Reasons for that are mostly piles of large diameter and/or of great depth or due to high soil friction.
